The GoBots were great, but their TV show tie-in was pretty bad! Just didn't have the same feel to it as the skewed a bit younger in its market.
Back in 1983, a line of Popy and Bandai transforming robots were licensed to the Tonka Company in the US to be sold as.the GoBots! These were great little robots.well-made, diecast metal, highly detailed.but whereas they got the jump on the Takara Diaclone toys to be marketed in the US by almost a year, they were eternally doomed to second-place status when the Transformers began to be marketed.even though they were all from basically the same origins back in Japan.
